British Youth Music Theatre
The road to being invested in becoming a movement director and choreographer began as a performer and deviser in a semi-professional physical theatre company called D.N.A way back in 1995. After finishing my BTEC in Perforrming Arts in that same year, I moved to London and auditioned for Rambert Dance School, a place I then trained at for 3 years before touring internationally with Mathew Bourne's production of Swan Lake. Hanging up my dancing shoes I then trained in acting at L.A.M.D.A. My route into movement direction and actor-movement systems of training is really a product of 6 years of conservatoire training alongside performance experience. I have worked internationally as an actor, dancer, movement director, choreographer and teacher.
When not performing I am nearly always teaching or movement directing actors. I've taught at many drama schools but it was at L.A.M.D.A where I devised movement theatre projects with the students, creating over 35 original pieces over a 15 year period.
I have also worked at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, ArtsEd, The Academy of Live & Recorded Art, The Institute for Contemporary Theatre, The Bridge Theatre Training, 4th Monkey, Rose Bruford College, The Theatre Workshop (Advanced Academy), Mountview Theatre School, The Royal Academy of Music, The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection in Hong Kong, and The International Theatre of the Adriatic in Corato, Italy.
I also work extensively with British Youth Music Theatre, developing music theatre based work for young people in Plymouth, Hemel Hempstead, Godalming, Edinburgh, Belfast and South Korea. I have been a member of the B.Y.M.T auditions team on and off since 2007.
